Teresa Nunes is a portuguese designer and maker living in Melbourne. She primarily works with ceramics, natural fibres and botanic dyes to create jewellery and other experimental objects. With sustainability at the core of her practice, most of the botanic dyes she uses are food waste like onion skins or avocado stones. These are collected and used to hand dye her scarves and necklace chords.
Inspired by silhouettes, rocks and earthy tones, her work explores texture and colour, and reflects the tactile qualities of the mediums used. Different clays and ceramic stains are combined in unique ways, and then sculpted and carved to create her nature evocative pieces.
