Molly Coombs Marr is a jewellery designer-maker and Australiana enthusiast. Growing up in a small country town, Molly's parents made sure to surround her and her sisters with all things Mem Fox, rainbow paddle pops, Gumnut Babies, Ken Done and Ridgey Didge pies. She couldn't have grown up the way she did without falling in love with this sunburnt country. Since completing a Bachelor of Design in 2016, Molly has focused on designing a handmade jewellery collection inspired by the nostalgic, unique and beautiful parts of Australia. The growing collection ranges from native flora and fauna, to everybody's favourite Aussie, childhood ice-creams. Molly's work is influenced by her love of wearable art, the Australian landscape, popular culture and the work of Australian artists like Ken Done, Jenny Kee, Linda Jackson and Reg Mombassa who pioneered the iconic, bold Australiana style of the 80s and 90s. Molly's colourful pieces avoid the typical patriotic symbolism found in tourist gift stores, instead drawing from the true Australian experience. Her designs allow people to embrace and explore what it really means to be Australian.
